Frequently asked questions

How do you work out the "Best value" pick?

We take each provider's exchange rate and fee for your amount and payout method, and calculate exactly how much your recipient would receive. Whoever gets your family the most money, after every fee, wins — not whoever advertises the biggest exchange rate.

Are the rates shown guaranteed?

No — they're indicative. Exchange rates move throughout the day and providers can change their fees at any time. Always confirm the final amount on the provider's own site or app before you send.

Why do fees differ so much between providers?

Providers charge in different ways — a flat fee, a percentage of the amount, or a mix — and some offer discounts for a specific payment or payout method (for example, paying with a card instead of cash). We convert all of that into one comparable "what your recipient gets" figure so you're not left comparing apples to oranges.

Do I need to make an account or give my details?

No. Kasi Rates doesn't ask for any personal information to compare rates — you only enter your own details once you click through and continue with a provider directly.

What's the maximum amount I can send?

It depends on the provider and usually on your verification level with them. Shoprite's Lesotho cash service, for example, caps sends at R5,000 a day and R25,000 a month. Check the provider's own site for their current limit before sending a large amount.
